July 5, 2025 – Caminoigra at 8:00 PM
“Imaginary Ethno Music”
The music of Caminoigra falls under the so-called world music genre, which expands traditional musical frameworks with its diversity. Their sound weaves together various musical cultures – from fiery Latin American rhythms and the sensuality of Spanish flamenco to the meditative qualities of traditional Indian music, namely Indian ragas.
Their repertoire delicately blends jazz improvisation, catchy melodies that quickly stick in the ear, and folk elements from different parts of the world (India, Spain, Cuba, etc.).
Caminoigra has been active since 1999, when Jan Tomšič – a global musical traveler – returned to Slovenia after many years abroad and formed the group. They have released three albums: Ishuan (2001), A New Child (2003), and Yanu (2006). In Panovci, they will present new compositions from their upcoming album.
Line-up:
Jan Tomšič – vocals, guitars, flute
Boštjan Gombač – clarinet, flutes, vocals
Blaž Celarec – drums, percussion, vocals
Žiga Golob – double bass
July 12, 2025 at 6:00 PM – In C by Terry Riley
“Musical Minimalism”
The second concert of the Sound Colors series will feature a 15-member ensemble performing In C by American composer Terry Riley.
In C is Riley’s best-known work and is often cited as the first minimalist composition. Its form is innovative: it consists of 53 short, numbered musical phrases. Each phrase can be repeated freely, and each musician decides individually which phrase to play and when. Musicians are encouraged to start phrases at different times, creating overlapping patterns. There is no fixed duration or instrumentation – every performance is unique, unrepeatable,
and wildly hypnotic.
Ensemble: Boštjan Gombač, Žiga Golob, Adi Jakša, Danijel Bogataj, Andraž Polič, Blaž Celarec, Peter Baroš, Jernej Babnik Romaniuk, Zsofi Klacsmann, Doriš Šegula, Špela Huzjak, Asja Grauf, Dani Lauko, Sašo Zver, Igor Bezget
